The company’s principals, Erich Schwenker and Dan O’Connell, each have over 40-years of real estate investment and management experience. Being part of something means participating in activities: our Gardening project is a great example of community involvement for our residents, our Wi-Fi project ensures they can be a part of the world, and our cabin repair project at Camp Whitcomb/Mason ensures the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee campers can participate in the great outdoors for generations to come.
Gardening Project
Gardening Through Community is a volunteer-run initiative that builds gardens at our properties. These on-site gardens cultivate social interaction among residents, facilitate physical activity, improve psychological well-being, and promote healthy eating.
Wireless Internet Project
Access not only connects people to opportunities, it creates them. While access to the Internet has improved dramatically, minorities, people with disabilities, seniors and lower income households are less likely to have the technology necessary to access the Internet. The availability of on-site technology can help kids improve their reading, link seniors with children living in other states, help those experiencing mental illness interact with the outside world in familiar surroundings, and help a single mother complete and submit a job application. To date, Cardinal Capital Management, Inc. has connected approximately 2,300 units of housing to the Internet. It is our goal to provide each of our residents with Internet access. By ensuring that everyone is connected, we’re creating an environment where possibilities are just a click away.
Cabin Project
Since 1911, Camp Whitcomb/Mason has been an outdoor destination for generations of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee. In 2012, we heard a call for help repairing deteriorating cabins at the camp. Our Director of Construction, Mark Klann, and a small army of generous contractors responded. For three seasons now, Professional Construction, Inc. (PCI), Trawicki Electric, Alpine Plumbing, and Holton Brothers Masonry have set aside materials like siding, windows, doors, lumber, their skills, and their time to repair cabins. The considerable amount of work that goes into replacing these cabins ensures future generations of kids will benefit from one of Wisconsin’s greatest assets: the outdoors. Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee is “a place where all youth, no matter their circumstances, can make great discoveries about themselves and engage in educational and recreational activities. And it’s all done in safe environments and led by positive role models and leaders.”
